Smoking Dangers,
Cancer and Smoking Heart Disease
Smoking dangers including passive smoking dangers, should
never be underrated. Parents have a duty to protect their
children, but many are unaware that children who live with
parents who smoke are three times more likely to get lung
cancer. Of course there are many other related afflictions,
including smoking heart disease, that you would never wish on
anybody, least of all your own children.
There was a time, not that very long ago, when families were
so impoverished that their life expectancy was severely
curtailed. Fortunately, in the Western world, that scenario has
disappeared, but some problems, such as smoking dangers remain.
That is not to suggest that children in other parts of the
world do not deserve the same consideration, but there is
little doubt, that for everyone who stops smoking somewhere in
the world, somebody else starts somewhere else. But the message
is loud and clear, if you don't stop smoking, heart disease,
cancer, and a range of other serious conditions could ruin your
life.
There are many smokers who believe that if they stop
smoking, weight gain will be the inevitable result, but they
could not be more wrong. It is a misconception to think of
smoking, weight gain, and such as reasons for continuing to
smoke. If you quit smoking, weight gain will only ensue, if you
substitute one bad habit for another. Rest assured that
stopping smoking is much more difficult than watching your
calorie intake.
When you quit smoking, effects will be will be evident for
all to see. Not only will you feel better but you will look
better too. There are a lot of people whose activity is
unnecessarily curtailed, as they get older, because they were
smoking teens. However, it has been established that if you
realize the error of your ways, and stop smoking soon enough,
it is possible to reduce your chances of smoking related
illnesses and death, to the levels associated with
non-smokers.
There are many pitfalls in life but not many as bad as
smoking dangers. It is easy to shrug and believe that smoking
health effects will happen to others and not to you. If you
smoke you must realize that you are just as much at risk as
anyone else who is similarly addicted, and take advantage of
all the advice that is designed to help you stop, once and for
all.
